RobinHey Laura,
This may or may not make you feel better, but here goes. I don’t have CAH, but was exposed numerous times to chicken pox as a child. There was no vaccine when I was a kid, so everytime one of my numerous cousins (there at 37 of us) would get chicken pox, my mother would take me to their house and pray that I got them so that I wouldn’t get them as an adult. After 35 other cousins and siblings had had chicken pox, I finally got an extremely light case (maybe one or two bumps), my brother never got the pox at all. So, it is a definite possiblity that your child won’t even get them if exposed. However, thinking I had immunity to the pox because of the light case I had, I never got the vaccination after it became available. I am a teacher and sure enough, when I was 28, I got a horrible case of chicken pox. I was on Valtrex for almost 2 weeks and couldn’t go to school. The doctor told me that people who have had a light case of chicken pox are prone to get it again later in life. So, long story short, I honestly hope your child doesn’t get them and we will pray for that outcome.
