We do have the vaccination available in Australia but I am of the opinion that it’s best for the kids to have the chicken pox and get it over and done with.  Both of my kids (Both SWCAH) have had it now my daughter at two and my son at six and they both coped fine.  Very itcy and completely covered in spots but no ill effect.

May advice is let your kids get it early and get it over and done with.  You are much sicker if you have it as an adult.  My Dad ended up in hospital with chicken pox and was very ill with it.
