Cortef and Dexamethasone genarics
Dec. 4th, 2005   2:54am

I went to my local drug store with a script for 10mg. Cortef tablets. They filled it with brand name drug, at $50.00,  and when I told them I wanted the genaric, which is about $6, they told me that there wasn’t a generic.  Also, this same store told me that dexamethasone is not made in 2.5 mg. tablets, and I didn’t even get to whether they made a generic. I am lowering my dosage, per my endo,  to 15 mg of cortef, and .125 of the dexa., at this time. Will probably try down to 10 on the cortef in a month or two.

Has any one else had problems getting generic drugs???

I just can’t afford the other ones. I am waiting on patient assistance for help at the moment, and the new Medicare drug coverage, which should help. I was paying $600 to 800 - per MONTH for my meds. And that is with a discount for being a Blue Cross member. I was an AARP  drug member, which cost me money, and didn’t give me as good of a discount as the Blue Cross does.
