Chris DWe have been doing circadian dosing for my 7 1/2 yr old for several years now. We started because, although his labs and height were good, he was gaining weight at an alarming rate. With circadian dosing we have been able to slow the gain a bit and keep him at a lower dose. I am a fan of circadian for our son because he did not do as well on traditional dosing. However . . .
If your daughter’s labs, weight and height are all good, I would really think strongly about changing anything. I do think though that there are some strong downsides to circadian dosing - and to switching doses.
Three things we have found:
(1) In our 7 1/2 years everytime we switch things up by changing dosing schedule or changing med type we find our son has an adjustment period where his control is not as good. He tends to get over or undersuppressed and he gains weight or loses height.
(2) Although some people may not find it too disruptive to get up in the middle of the night, some do. Personally, I find I need more sleep because my sleep pattern has been disturbed.
(3) As your daughter gets older she, or you, may want her to be able to be under someone’s care for the night (sleepovers or grandparents staying while you take a parent’s vacation etc.) I have found it very hard to ask my mom or my son’s friends’ parents to get up at 3:30am.
Just some thoughts, hope they help your decision.
