bonnieI have a hard time remembering things but I probably told you that my son is a CAH carrier with symptoms - although I think I recall that his levels were quite a bit higher than your daughter’s, and my daughter is not a CAH carrier but has PCOS and insulin resistance. Your doctor is against trying a low dose of Cortef? I know I had a hard time convincing someone to try it but there were other doctors out there who were OK with it. I know this because someone told me that one doctor posted an insulting email to the pediatric endocrinologists of the world calling me a PIA (figure it out) and asking if they would try it and some said yes. But my son’s levels were something like 380 - 1180 on the stim test. Did I ask you if your daughter took the test first thing in the morning? It will be higher then. I even thought about trying to get cortef myself on the internet but I had a very hard time finding it. It’s a cheap drug and there’s no black market for it so they don’t sell it.
For the insulin resistance - did she take the OGTT - fasted 2 or 3 hour blood test? I don’t know anything about the FSH, LH or estrogen. I haven’t paid attention to this with my daughter - maybe I should. I’ll ask my doctor for her labs and we can compare notes. My daughter had a cyst on her ultrasound so she definitely had PCO.
