Toni’s Post - RE: Other Support Board
Dec. 6th, 2005   2:45pm

Apologies, I’ve just been catching up on posts this morning and with regards to  Toni’s post at the link below.  Been very busy trying to get our pet lamb’s back on track and well so havn’t had time to check in much sine my last post.  The post at this link:

http://www.congenitaladrenalhyperplasia.org/mb/index.php?msg=0478453993&forum=main

I currently adminstrate:

http://www.cahsupportforum.com/phpBB2/

but need assistance in the way of other’s who would like to take on the responsibility of Moderator.

Moderating will allow for you to delete offensive posts or spam and some other limited duties.  There has been a lot of spam posted there since the board was established and I’ve implemented tighter security recently for that reason alone, as some of the spam was lacking CAH support based etiquette to say the least.   The mind boggles how some people find the time to join recently and create memberships *rolls eyes* or even post what they and as frequently as they do.  Must not have a life as such...

Needless to say, as I didn’t check in that frequently, sometimes I would check in after a week or so and find a lot of pornagraphic junk.  However, within the last 2-3 weeks, due to the above secuirty measures I’ve managed to cut this much down to basically nil.   I’ve implemented members to forum only posting.  I simply have not had the time to monitor such and need notifying of memberships, and the disadvantages of that is anything up to a 24 hour hold back until the new member can post on the board.  Still, I’m sure most decent people would only want to visit and find CAH related posts on there.  So this one minor set back is worth it, if it means findind a "clean" board upon their visit.

However, it really need’s for several people in different time zones to check in from time to time and to delete any posts they see that are inappropriate to CAH Support.  Obviously I approve memberships that seem genuine, but one never knows if it is someone genuinly seeking CAH Support or trouble.  So it needs for several people to occasionally pop in and moderate.

So I would like to say that at today’s date, if anyone desires the role of "Moderator" at cahsupportforum.com, they can apply as long as they can supply me with atleast one reference from someone who has been using this board for a number of years.  The referee can email me their reference direct to the email address below after the applicant has approached them to ask if they will provide me with one.

I.e. Danny, Carol, Laura K, Lynn T, Chris D, Wendy Lee, Amy, Betsy, Toni etc.  Most of the ones’ that have been here since the dawn of time I would accept a reference off.  Obviously I cannot make anyone a moderator without knowing them well but I am mindful of the fact that a lot of people I simply do not know as they are new postee’s and as I don’t visit here often enough, they may have escaped my attention as the ideal candidate.  So they can aqcuire a reference from one of the above easily and I will accept them as qualified.  You do not need to be some great html code writer, or bb.code writer.  It’s relatively simple and delte buttons and modifications appear on your logging in and when reading a post. You just click and delete etc.  So don’t let that put you off applying. I don’t expect a degree in computer science, just someone with balanced views who will not go deleting everything slightly controversy based just because they don’t agree with that particular point of view etc.   We’re talking removing posts that are offensive because they are personal attack based etc.

So if your interested in joining or acquiring moderator status then email me at

cah support forum@hotmail.com  (remove all the gaps in email) and I will consider your application ASAP.  (Please don’t make requests in this thread - live though).  Of course if your not a member of the forum, you’ll have to join then I can grant the moderating privelages etc after the receipt of a reference from one of the above.

Check out the recent posts about spam in the Announcement forum and you’ll be updated.

Thanks

Anne-Marie
