DebbiWTo make a very long story short--I have a friend of a friend whose son showed autistic symptoms--eventually led to having a blood tests that detected high mercury levels from some vaccine. ANYWAY, this led to more reading by a friend of mine who, for other reasons, saw a doctor who ran a Tiders blood test on her children to see the level of immunity for each of the diseases. Because children get these vaccines at the same time-too many at once, apparently, you may not have the immunity you think. One of her children had extremely high levels of one vaccine and nearly none of some others. When it came time for boosters before school, the tiders result was sufficient to defer booster for the high measles level in this child. I believe with her youngest, he received his shots more spaced out and not all of them were the combination like the DPT.
If you are concerned about your child’s immunity, perhaps you could speak with your child’s doctor to determine beforehand if he/she has proper levels of immunity. My son 10 Yr SWCAH son had the chicken pox vaccine at around 1 or 2, has been exposed a few times, but did not get it. Once his sister (12) was in first grade and had not had it, she was immunized. I have heard of some cases here, but not to the extent in this community. Perhaps the shot was given along with other vaccines and had the result that my friend’s children did. If this is standard practice in a community, the result might be consistent as well.
I wish you well!
