To Parents of Kids on Kids Board
Dec. 18th, 2005   9:44am

Life is so busy that I seldom visit this board anymore.  I can remember the days when I started a free message board when I was a stay at home mom YEARNING to meet others and get affirmations.  Then  Danny’s expertise at web design took the ball and totally scored!!  Now Kyle is 10.  He’s a pretty healthy young man, quite handsome, and an excellent athlete.  Despite his height, he has plays keeper(you should see him leap and dive!) and striker quite effectively for his travel soccer team.

However, part of his personality is one where everything seems to just roll off his back.  If something really bothers him, it takes a while before he comes around to talk about it.  Sort of like, okay---I’m not dealing with alone so I need to talk.  I feel like he’s reaching an age where some of the limits are catching up.  I won’t let him go to cub scout day camp in the summer unless I’m there volunteering.  You can forget out of town overnight events with the school that are coming up next year in 5th grade.  Ive let him participate in anything he has wanted as long as I was close by.  That created alot of freedom and he never felt any limits--even though the other kids would get dropped off and I stuck around for 2 hour soccer practices or 3 hour day camps.

I’d like to open the avenue for him via the kid’s board or penpal by US Mail.  I’m extrememely leary of e-mail.  I won’t let my 12 yo daughter use messenger type things with her friends--so I’m not real open to e-mail.  I’d welcome your experiences in this area.
