I have posted this info before, so if it’s repetitious, sorry! But since you asked, yes, my 16 yo daughter has been suffering with chronic hives every day for 2 1/2 years. I sincerely believe it is related to her hormone imbalance, which is what led me to learning about CAH. She’s recently been tested for LOCAH and it looks like she is a carrier (need genetic testing to be sure). And yes, she’s been tested for thyroid antibodies and is always normal, but we’ll continue to check that.

Keeping a diary is a great idea for your daughter. I do not think my daughter’s hives are caused by stress, but stress can make it worse. And allergies make it worse, but also don’t appear to be the main cause. These kinds of reactions are probably autoimmune, brought on by an overreactive immune system, thus steroids are used as a treatment for severe cases. Interesting that steroids are also a treatment for CAH. Reading about your daughter made me think of "physical hives," which are triggered by things like cold, heat, pressure. So keep that in mind as you keep your diary. My son gets hives when he is overheated and sweaty. Let us know if you figure anything out!
