Julia in CTHi everyone!
Wow, what a surprise Danny! The site is gorgeous! Such a lot of hard work! Thank you so much!
Well, Chelsea update!!!!! We saw Dr. Rivkees at Yale/New Haven about 2 weeks ago. Am I ever impressed! He is WONDERFUL! Such a sweet man, so caring, and he even had Chelsea giggling during the yucky part of the exam... He switched her to Dex, and what a difference! About a week ago, she burned herself on some steam and her finger blistered. As you all know only too well, this would normally take quite a while to heal...It is all gone already! I talked with a friend who is a ped/endo nurse practicioner (sp?), and she said it is because Dex is so much stronger and works so much better in the body...wow I guess so. Bad news was that Chels’ growth plates are fused :( but we made it to 5’, and that’s not bad! Dr. Rivkees said we may get another inch anyway, so we can hope, but 5’ isn’t horrible! And we were so impressed with the hospital and everyone there. We drove down in a blizzard (it took us 3 1/2 hours to make the normal 1 1/2 hour trip), but it was worth it! He has even arranged it so we can do the tri-monthly blood work draws at a local hospital and have the info faxed to him and he’ll schedule actual exams when he really needs to see her. I am so relieved! Anyone in CT....steer clear of Connecticut Childrens Medical Center....trust me it’s worth the drive to New Haven!
I hope everyone is having a blessed and healthy Holiday season.
Julia
