ToniaARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!!!????? I’m surprised but not at what you said. I am so proud of you and your husband for giving your sweetheart what she really needed which was a nice big dose of the hydrocortisone. Clearly, in my mind, that is what she needed. The fever would be normal with a UTI but to vomit with it too, shows me she was heading right into an adrenal crisis. My daughters always vomit and have a high fever when they spiral downward. The shot and IV fluids perk them up and usually those symptoms stop. We have never been discharged while either of them still have a fever or are vomiting.
Just a suggestion, but I would talk to your ped endo about helping you advocate with the hospital to have better communication with the staff that will be treating her and a treatment plan that will be followed no matter who sees her. Hopefully they will listen better to your endo. Sometimes docs see us as "overreactive" parents and that is just wrong! No one knows our children as well as we do.
You did the right thing and you saved her life!
Blessings,
Tonia
