LauraYou poor thing! I hope to God you are not getting that stuff!!! Who takes care of us mom’s when we are sick? We don’t have time to get sick so I will pray extra hard for you.
Don’t ever think you could over use the shot. I didn’t want to share this story until he was pretty much done with that sickness. We had some mom post here a couple of years ago that made me go into a real panick. BUT from what I thought, it sounded like this mom was from a place that didn’t really didn’t have much education in CAH. I don’t know. (If anyone remembers please fill in my blanks here.) The story was enough to keep me on my toes when there is a flu bug like this going around. She posted that her I think it was her three year old went to bed after he vomitted, and then had diarrehea really bad through out the night or something like that. He went to bed and by morning he was unresponsive. NOW this is not to throw off alarms and panick everyone. The story was choppy, and I didn’t have the nerve to ask her if she stressed dosed her son, or even gave a shot. I just couldn’t ask because her grief was too deep. Any new parents reading this, please this is not to panic you. Just to keep you on your toes. Never underestimate the power of the stomach flu. Stress dosing of course is the plan of action to take with the stomach flu. BUT when in doubt, I would give the shot. According to my "PENS handbook" they highly suggest the shot in cases of vomitting and heavy diarrhea. Some docs think we use it too quickly, some think not quickly enough. Each child is different too. So never doubt yourself and think you will over use "the shot". Of course not every time you turn around. With every person that says, "WOW what a difference that shot made!" I think about using it in those, "to give shot or not to give situations" and think, why not?
Ok I don’t know how I got off the track on that one. I think I wanted to bring that story up but didn’t because I can remember sobbing after reading that and being in a constant panic with the first sign of vomit, or the poops. But through the years we have learned. We dont’ panic, we just keep our focus and respect the stomach flu bugs that enter our house.
I am glad he is feeling better. Now get some sleep YOURSELF!!!! Oh I hope you stay healthy! My prayers are with you Sonya!!!!
