Misty, this parent needs you as a babysitter so she can work. Work is very important to her, just as keeping your child healthy is important to you. I would explain to her that if your child gets sick, it could be life threatening. I would let her know that if she can’t get her child to take medicine, and then doesn’t try to help you when you try and give it to her, or make her mind, then you cannot watch her children when they are sick. If you can’t watch her kids, then she misses work (reverse psychology!). My children have gotten sick in the past when I have had to take them to daycare because parents don’t follow the rules and send their kids to daycare sick. My child gets sick because of their selfishness and it makes me mad. I no longer send my kids to daycare for this reason. You really need to put your foot down. She needs you to babysit more than you need her. It is your home and the rules you set down for your own children need to be followed by her children; it’s that simple.
