I have 2 children with SWCAH the youngest is almost one.  I job shared for about 3 years working 2 to 3 days a week, but my child/now children always seemed to get sick on the days I worked.  I was layed off, after 8 years of service, right before the holidays.  Part of me was relieved the guilt associated with working and having children for me was at times unbearable.  "They have a runny nose, should I stay home or take them to daycare?"  I usually stayed home at the hint of illness for obvious reasons with the CAH kids but I do understand the other side of things.

Sorry to ramble.  I have actually decided to take a Medical Transcription course and try working from home.  The course is through Career Step.  I was just wondering how that works for you.  Is/was it difficult to find jobs?  What training do you have.  What is the $ potential etc...  I would love to have your input and any others that might be doing this.

If you would rather move this off the board I am at williamo@wwdb.org

I appreciate any information you could provide.

And do not feel bad putting your foot down with the Mom’s they need to be supportive of your authority with their children, and respect the sick kid rules of child care or find another sitter!
