DawnHi
I wondered whether anyone could help me out with this. i have a 2 year SWCAH daughter, who has had severe problems with salt retention.
She is currently on 150mcg florinef, plus salt supplements of 20mmol of sodium.
Her last labs showed renin 49.54 nmol/l/hr with potassium of 3.8 mmol/l and a sodium of 134 mmol/l. The renin was not taken at rest, but at clinic, which I believ alters the way the results are read. I am not therefore sure how high this is.
Her Endo has suggested we increase her salt supplements to 24 mmol due to high renin and sodium at bottom of normal.
I was really wondering why he was increasing the sodium v’s further increasing the florinef. I thought by this stage we should be weaning her off the salt supplement not increasing it and this therefore suggests to me it is the florinef that is too low.
I do have Carol’s book, but I can’t find it at the moment. Can anyone help with this
Thanks
Dawn
