Hi Dawn,

In my opinion, this seems like a reasonable suggestion. Sodium is a natural substance. Florinef is a synthetic drug. Given the choice, I can see why a doctor would choose to increase the natural substance vs. the synthetic (e. g. less chance of other side effects from the medication.) In addition, your daughter’s potassium level is not high. This also seems to suggest that her Florinef dose may be okay.

When you find your copy of the book, you will see this question addressed on p. 149 as a FAQ. In a nutshell, this passage tells you that you can also determine whether to increase sodium or Florinef, by measuring the amounts of sodium in urine.

Hope this helps.....I know how frustrating it is that medicine is not always black and white!
