re: re: sexual function in women

Oh! What a decision you have on hand. I KNOW I went through this also with my Granddaughter. I think that the research on how functional girls who have had the newer surgeries respond to sexual function is not really available YET! I also heard about non satisfied sexual experiences with women who had the surgery of yesteryear. I chose to have the surgery done on my Granddaughter as I was told the nerves and parts of the clitoris are  now left in tact and not cut on leaving the woman being able to function sexually and acheive orgasms. You will get tons of feedback for and against the surgery. You will make a decision that is comfortable for you and your child. Choosing to have the surgery is what worked for us.......everyone has there own opinion as to what to do. I also know many woman who have a difficult achieving orgasm that do not have CAH or SURGERY. I think it comes down to your mental stimulation  and your partner and your sexual experience as a couple. I do not think the DRs. today are as cut happy as the ones from years ago because they KNOW they will still be around when these girls reach puberty and become sexually active.....therefore the results fall on there shoulders.

My personal feeling is I did not want my daughter judged and maliciously ridiculed by her peers. I have raised children first time around and as teenagers the children are ruthless and will joke someone about anything from zits to birthmarks. I also want her to have as much sexual identity and source of SELF before she hits puberty. I wanted to leave nothing for her to question as we can’t read there minds when they are in emotional turmoil. My theory is it is my responsibility to MAKE THIS CHILD FEEL AS POSITIVE AND HEALTHY as she can as a child. She will have enough on her shoulders during young adulthood without having to make a decision on how to change her body structure....and at that age why would she want too? Just my opinion. Again this is what we thought would work best for our family and our child. Prayers and best wishes to you during this time. Once you make a decision though you will find peace.

Sincerely

Cherry Lane
