concerned momMy daughter was born 5 weeks premature. When she had her first newborn screening (CAH) test she had a positive result She was transported to another hospital to a NIC-unit for premature lungs. At that hospital they repeated the CAH test and the results were in normal limits. At 2-3 months I noticed pubic hair, I was told not to worry as long as it didn’t grow on the upper part of her genitals. She was recently hospitalized with a virus/severe dehydration (with vomiting and severe diarrhea) a virus that no one in my house had but her. Upon her release her doctor advised me to go to an Pediatric Endocrinologist because of the pubic hair. It wasn’t until I requested all of my daughters medical records to see the Endocrinologist that I was even aware of CAH testing. I am currently scheduled for a visit with a Pediatric Endocrinologist. I am very concerned.
Can anyone answer if these symptoms are characteristics of CAH and is it possible to get one positive result and on negative result?
Thank you!
