Hi Julia,Carol M.Thanks for your note. I guess, judging from the lack of response, not too many people have seen any sort of seasonal association with weight gain/loss...oh well.
I know conventional wisdom has most people losing weight in the summer and gaining weight in the winter, but I have noticed just the opposite pattern with my son. A couple of years ago, I came up with the hare-brained theory that perhaps this is because NON-Saltwasters make more cortisol in the summer months when they are trying to make more aldosterone.
In other words, if hormone production can spill over into the androgen pathway, when a CAH person tries to make cortisol, why wouldn’t it spill over into the cortisol pathway when a CAH person tries to make aldosterone??? It’s probably a silly idea, but....darn...if this isn’t the 4th winter in a row that I’ve seen this happen!
