ER trip
Jan. 28th, 2006   10:38am

We made it over a year since we had to take our 9 year old to the ER.  We had to take her in yesterday.  She has been battling a cold/sore throat/you name it....... since Monday.  Thursday she had a fever at school and they sent her home, it went down hill from there.  She woke up in the middle of the night Thurs. dry heaving and with a fever.  We took her the dr and she has strep throat and a double ear infection.  By 3 oclock she was running a temp of 103 and was unable to eat or drink because it was making her gag.  I was able to get her meds in her but nothing was bringing the fever down and thequadruple dose of cortef seemed to have no effect.  So it was time for the shot.  Usually this makes a huge difference.  Nope, she slept through it!  I sent my 8 year old over to the neighbors, called the endo to let him know and called my hubby at work.  I met him at his substation and off we went.  (The trip goes much faster when you have a cop driving :)  )  Brett had to carry her into the hospital.  Her temp had gone to 104.6!  The triage nurse put her in the wrong section and she wasn’t seen immediately.  The endo had called the hospital and we really started to see people moving very quickly.  They had to give her 2 bags of fluids and bolused both!  By the second bag, her fever was coming down and she was starting to wake up.  She was able to be discharged in the middle of the night and I am happy to report she is feeling so much better this morning.  This thing just really got her down!  We’re exhausted.  Please say a prayer for Abby that she continues to get better and a prayer for her sister, Ellie, that she doesn’t get it.

Blessings,

Tonia
