ToniaRobin,
I’m going to assume that you are having a bad day. I know I am. My 9 year old has been sick with temperatures of 104 for a week, has required a lot of treatment and an er trip. I’m praying my 7 year old doesn’t get sick as her birthday is this weekend. My husband’s partner was shot at work last night and his other 3 partners were involved in the shootout. By the grace of God, my husband was home with us. That being said....... why would you chastise Misty the way you did? It makes no sense to me and I’m not quite sure why you are being so defensive about it. I consider children with CAH to have special needs. Or medically handicapped even. In fact, in Ohio the supplemental state insurance that children with cah get is called "The Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps". Does it mean they are stupid or less productive in life? No. I also consider my nephew who has asthma to be special needs. It’s a word and it in no way implies anything about their IQ. Each year when my 2 ssw cah daughters start school, I have to make special arrangements and plans with the nurse, teachers and staff. Every 3 months we see the endo and get blood drawn. When they are sick we have to increase their doses and treat them accordingly or stay up for a week straight. I do consider that special needs. It’s not just pop pills in them 3 times a day and it’s all done. And like Amy said, if they didn’t get those meds, they would die.
I hope everything is going ok with you. And personally, I think you owe Misty and Stacy an apology.
Blessings,
Tonia
