Hi Tsarah,

It’s good that you are starting to gain an understanding of CAH. Keep reading and researching and you’ll be surprised what you can learn quickly. Use your college library or academic access codes to read quality literature for the medical understanding about CAH, and this board for life related stuff.

It is somewhat baffling about the attitude that CAH is not life-threatening enough. Do THEY really know? Certainly without medication it can be fatal, however fortunately CAH medications are not terribly expensive and I reckon they are more important for you to prioritise into your budget than maybe a movie once in a while etc.

Aimee’s suggestion of going to a hospital and being seen as an outpatient is a good one. Two years without testing is too long to really know what is going on, but I can’t talk. I know what I was like at your age...totally avoiding the whole thing, wishing it would all go away.

As far as pregnancy goes, well personally I think Sheila makes it sound easy - and I think she is an exception (smile). Most Classic CAH women need some sort of intervention even if it is ’only’ having their medication very finely tuned to precision. It’s not like in normal people ’like falling off a log’.

Obviously the more vigilant you are with your medications - now, the better control over this condition you will have in the long run. To have good control now  is a good starting point for trying for a pregnancy later on when you are ready.

Ask as many questions as you need. All the best with your CAH journey.

Megan
