My 22 month daughter’s blood was sent to Esoterix lab in California for analysis and it was lost so we have not blood data for her doctor’s visit this week.  They received the paperwork, but cannot find the blood sample, although it was packaged in the same box.  This is not the first time we’ve encountered poor service from Esoterix.  Her first ACTH stimulation test at 6 weeks old, Esoterix combined pre and post stimulation blood and ran one analysis, which invalidated the entire test.  Her second ACHT stimulation test at 18 months, they left some of the blood at room temperature for an extended amount of time so we never got some of the requested numbers.  They also said they had insufficient blood quantity although our doctor sent 2x the required amount, so I’m assuming there was another mistake that used some of the blood.

I’ve heard Esoterix lab is technically the best lab for hormone analysis, but I’m so fustrated with the errors we’ve experienced.  It just breaks my heart when my little one has a blood draw especially when it’s a repeat due to an error in the lab.  Not to mention her doctor has a 4 month back log for appointments.  Has anyone else experienced problems with Esoterix or is it just our bad luck??
