ToniaSherry,
How is your sweetie feeling today? How are you? We have had some bad experiences in the ER too. I have learned that it is always best to have our endo call the ER to coordinate care with the doctor and staff. It makes a tremendous difference. Also, I would mention to the ped and endo exactly what happened and see if they can call the ER administration for you to try to put a protocol in place.
I know what it’s like to have a hysterical child and you don’t want to give the shot. 2 Fridays ago I had to do it. She was pretty much sleeping through that one but I always need to have someone help me with the girls when it is shot time. I hate it but know it’s what they need. I will never again rely on the hospital to do it for me. No matter how much it hurts my heart, it’s for the best. I have actually given them shots while they were in the hospital (this was a while ago) because the staff was so ineffective and were treating me like a crazed mother. The nurse told me, you can’t do that! Yes, I can and did. Did she not get IV fluids at all? I can’t believe they discharged her when she was still vomiting!
I wish you all the best! Let us know how she’s doing and if you get any resolution to your situation with the hospital. It might be a good idea too to write to the hospital administrator and explain in detail what happened and why it was so imperitive that your child be treated immediately.
Blessings,
Tonia
