margaretI was diagnosed with a mild form of CAH in 1985, and given prednisone. Then I moved, and no doctor since has been willing to give me the medicine, citing side effects. I don’t have the money for thousands of dollars of tests, and have collapsed several times (electrolyte imbalance, sinus bradycardia, etc., so weak I couldn’t leave a hotel room for five days to eat.) I was starting to sleep better on the prednisone, but only took it for a few months.
I had a cystoscopy when I was seven. I’m not sure what all they did, possibly just dialated my urethra (I was getting bladder infections). I have a clitoris and my vagina is small (I could never deliver a child, but sex is okay, if time consuming). I ended up with constant bladder infections after sex and interstitial cystitis, but learned to avoid baths, drink lots of water before and after sex, etc. The feeling of having to void all the time left when I started taking tricyclic antidepressants.
I had a high androsteindion level and testosterone level (110 or so), normal estrogen, and very low progesterone. I was actually pregnant once for 3 or 4 weeks but the pregnancy failed.
What form of CAH, if any, do you suppose this would be? The doctor who diagnosed me was from Venezuela, and is not available.
