aimeeHi Sherry,
I wanted to add that although I’ve used the above suggestions @ the four hospitals in the health care safety net that are available to me that they also have a system that allows for that parent to be in a panic and still get the info that they need to help- Upon entering one of the ER’S is a sheet where the parent or patient writes why they are here and please list your doctors names and numbers - then you pass it in - that’s how they seperate who they call first. I was barfing blood and went first before the lady that sliced her finger @ this hospital I asked the endo to call in and everything was waiting - I guess I wrote because I just want all’ya not to have anymore anxiety then you need to.
I was w/ a nurse on the floor and I wanted to share about needing extra hydro since I had been barfing - she wanted to talk about the genital part of CAH and how she had seen it all. I consoled myself that the shot I was given in the Er should be OK untill the morning. I realized ain’t worth it - the lady was nice but only interested in the one part . Was glad that I had my Endo’s card and phone # to call him myself for assistance.
Like you’all (couple years ago) I’ve been w/ the nurse that’s been there for 20 years and never heard of CAH- true story- passed out twice - just gushing blood but needed to relay need .....ummm extra -hydro and you get "the Doctor will know" I’m like .....I know the doctor for sure is a wonderful doctor (and I bet good lookin ) but with respect I know he doesn’t know about CAH : ) Please have him rattle the Endo on call since I know my Endo doesn’t have privilages here ..thanks and all this while gushing blood ....the nurse is like try to rest ....yeah lady gimme my 100mgs of Solu-cortef then I’ll relax. Yep, then the emergency surgery where I told the nurse ....need solu-cortef- he goes the OR will know. When I got to the OR- the nurse goes that she was really glad that I told them because they wouldn’t of known.
they are always learning.
