re: Switching to Prednisone

Lisa,

My son who is the one in the green shirt and has his front teeth missing had been on prednisone for 2 years. His teeth rotted he never gained any weight. But he was only 2 or 3 cant remeber how sad! But the dr’s at Riley wanted him to be put on a feeding tube. I said no but when we went there my son and another child were the only ones that they had as patients that have swcah. So it was all new to them at the time and that was back in 2001. We switched drs and he is now off of the prednisone and on Cortef which he has gained some weight. But while on the prednisone his teeth rotted, his eyes were sunken in, he just looked horrid, and he was always in a bad bad mood. he would wake up crying and go to bed crying. But I am not saying any of these things will happen with your daughter. My son was very young so that might have made a difference as well. I also know that they say that when you are on prednisone that you gain weight but that was not the case with my son. My son is going to be 5 in March and he weighs 28lbs. He is very small but both me and his real father are pretty short and some what skinny. I hope that i have not scared you in anway. I would never do that to anyone. But that has been my experince and who knows your daughter might do extremly well. I wish her and you luck and will keep you and your daughter in my prayers

God Bless,
