natalieTina: Thanks for your input. Actually, I did contact an attorney in Madison. I could push a lawsuit, but I’d have to find ped.endo’s to say that there was "negligence". Negligence is different than diagnosing someone with the best information available at that time. Quinn was not given an ACTH stim test, but not performing that test is not negligence. Quinn is on growth hormone injections. This could be because she was over treated with Cortef, or it could be because we are all kind of short anyway!! My husband’s mother is only 4’11".
Also, the UW defense attorneys fight every single case tooth & nail. They NEVER settle. We do have financial damages due to the out of pocket medical expenses and medications, however, that total amount is not enough to go through years of litigation to us.
I’ve talked to 2 ped. endos (one in New York and one in LA) about this misdiagnosis and they both said it is possible they have even done that. I also talked to someone at CARES and they agreed that this is not blatant negligence.
When my daughter Quinn was told she did not have CAH, she said, "you mean I don’t have to be scared I will die if I get sick"?!!! I just cried!!! The defense would say that Quinn could have been overly sensitive due to my other two kids with LOCAH, or that she just has anxiety problems. The anxiety, I would state, was caused by the unnecessary fear from the misdiagnosis, however, they could just say that her anxiety is just inherited because I have an anxiety problem.
In light of all of the above, I have chosen to look at this as a miracle instead of a medical mistake!!!!
Thanks for asking and giving me infor about your genetics!! Its all so interesting!!
