Cherry LaneAlicia,
As one reader suggested.....I would document everytime he visits, how long he stays. How the baby reacts.... has he been drinking /smoking. Also gather as much literature and brochures and medical records as you can on your child and CAH. If it does come to court and you show how critical it is that your child get meds at the correct times. This could be help. Have a nurse or family member write a letter stating how good you are about caring for you child with CAH and giving the meds. KNOWING the protocal for illness ect. Keep records of dates and times of visitation.... this will show the courts that if he is truly interested in the child or if he wants the child for revenge or hurt. How much of a hands on Father was he when you were with him. PHOTOS? Did he get up with the child ? Bathe it ? Feed it ? Does he KNOW what to do in an emergency? What if the baby has an adrenal crisis and he is stoned to the bone or drunk? Would he be able to give a shot? Has he had parenting classes? Any babysitters see him wasted? DOCUMENT DOCUMENT DOCUMENT...... Judges like to see things on paper and written in black and white. It makes it easy for them to make a decision.
You do not have to keep the baby from seeing his father just ask for supervised visitation UNTIL you know he is responsible enough to handle the baby and CAH.
