AmandaAnnie, I’m 25 years old with SAWACH. Have you had your bloodwork done lately? Also, are you taking cortisone, dexamethasone or prednisone? Dexameth and prednisone makes you gain more weight than cortisone (cortef, hydrocortisone) so that could be the problem. (when my md switched me to dexameth once, I had an insatiable appetite and would get up in the middle of the night and cook a meal! Needless to say, I had him switch it back by the end of the week)
I have actually had the reverse prob where I can’t seem to ever gain weight, I have been the same weight (125lbs) since high school. I always thought this was attributed to my CAH. Last year I made a concerted effort to see if I could gain weight so I drank weight gainer from GNC all day long and ate cheese steaks and milkshakes everyday. I managed to gain 30 lbs(!!!) but as soon as I stopped the weight gainer, it was right back to the old weight. So who knows. Have you had your thyroid levels checked? Low thyroid levels can make you gain and retain the weight.
If you ever wanna chat, my email is pitbullbugs@comcast.net
hope you are well!
