I’ve been having some stomach troubles (besides the IBS!) and am now being checked for the H. pylori bacteria that can cause ulcers. While checking up on this, I came across information that says that compromised adrenal and/or thyroid function can cause low stomach acid, which in turn makes better conditions for the H. pylori bacteria to grow (and then you get ulcers). It also tied compromised adrenal and/or thyroid function to IBS. After I talked to my mom about this, she mentioned that she also had trouble with low stomach acid (and ulcers) as did her dad (who also had IBS) and his sister; I’m as certain as I can be without genetic testing - from many factors - that this is the branch of my family that I inherited my CAH gene from.Wendy-LeeSo..... I’m interested to know how many - if any - of you with CAH or those that are just carriers like myself, have had troubles with IBS, with ulcers, low stomach acidity, GERD or the like. My GP is still skeptical that CAH carriers present any symptoms of compromised adrenal function at all, but I’m more and more convinced that there are more connections than I’d like to admit. Thanks for your help!
