My daughter will be 11 next month.  She is dark skinned with dark black hair on her legs, arms and upper lip.  When she was 8 years old I measured the hair on her legs and it was an inch long.  I use a type of razor where there is this stuff around the blade, you don’t have to soap up your legs to use it.  I can’t think of the name of it right now but I will post tomorrow with the name.

Anyway, I shaved her legs the first time and I had to do it twice.  Then I would monitor her while she was in the bath.  This type of product is designed to help you not nick yourself.  Anyway, she felt so relieved when she wore shorts to school and during the summer.  She does it all on her own now without my supervision.  And she still has not nicked herself.

We recently started using another product on her upper lip.  That hair was starting to bother her so yesterday we worked on it and she now has a smooth upper lip.  She was very happy.

You just have to remember the times when we were self concious about the way we looked and when you have the dark hair you are so aware that it is there.  She want to shave the hair off of her arms too but I won’t let her, it’s not that bad.

It’ll be ok Mom.
