Dear Tonia,

To answer your question about when did gals w/ CAH and in my case SVCAH start shaving their legs? (funny thing is that after 25 - didn’t have to shave that much and now really never - Hair gone poof)   It was around ten and I had much more hair than other girls ....hey wait it wasn’t about them just seeing the excessive hair and wanting to get rid of it.

I didn’t even ask or tell my mom : 0 saw the razor in the shower and this was 1980  : ) one of those ones where it was a real blade that could come out of the razor and soaped up and shaved. Did this for a couple of weeks until I went to fast and cut myself - didn’t panic but put gauze and an ace bandage around it. Still remember proudly showing my mom the bandage : )

We have a hormonal endocrine condition and some of us even with the best bloodwork will have a hair issues. Plus, some might be ethnic background. I also had really hairy arms and got the crap teased out of me for that besides the hair on the upper lip. Was called Wookey from Star Wars and Bear for a time being.

A disposable razor w/ lotion and some band-aids  : ) She’ll be fine .

Gosh ..when I was ten.....hummm I shaved other parts also - had to because it made wearing the bathing suit uncomfortable in front of other kids and it wasn’t as.....  hot . I still remember that look on that med students face after his peek."Who did that? .... " humm messed up their study project. Bad Chia pet.

That excessive hair didn’t help my self- esteem and what was worse was the Endo and his team blowing me off ..minimizing my concerns. Oh yes, I have memory of going to the GP for an ear ache and the woman rubbing the hair back and forth on my arm while staring at me.

By middle school, I was an expert at mixing up hair bleach for the face.

I forgot to do things and still do but the hair stuff? I was an expert and that is nothing I would of choosen for myself or others but goes with the territory.

Best Wishes,

Aimee
