Misty: There is a fine line between over & under suppression. When my kids have been over suppressed they have gained weight (however when their dose was lowered they didn’t loose weight, so was it really the Cortef?), and it can stunt their growth (which they would have to be oversuppressed for a long time and growth is messed up anyway because you just can not possibly give the exact amount of oral cortisol according to what your adrenal glands would make throughout the day). Anyway, my son, 10yrs, was recently undersuppressed and his eyes were sunken in, red rimmed and crying (sensitive) about every little thing!! His labs showed that he wasn’t getting enough Cortisol and it was raised. He still continued with the eye & mood thing, did labs again and he was still not getting enough Cortisol. Its been a week since it was raised again and he is looking good!! At least until he grows out of this dose!! Good luck and hang in there!!natalie
