Boys do have problems with self esteem, if they do not receive the correct treatment, their testes do not grow properly, and if when going through their early teenage years they are told this by a doctor, you have small testes, they can develop quite a complex and actually in fact worry if they will be able to have sex or father children. This has happened to my son. It is not spoken about often on this board, probably because there is so much about surgery in girls, which I guess that us parents with boys feel blessed that we do not have to deal with. Boys do have their testes felt and measured against beads, very regularly and hate the examinations as girls do, but they are necessary. They sometimes need to have an ultra sound too.
This is not to start a controversial debate but to make parents aware that this can happen!! I am not sure that boys so readily share their feelings as teenagers, which is why it is so good to hear from people like Ian. My son has been told several times be thankful he is not a girl with CAH...... I think that it is totally unfair, to have your problems judged by what gender you are So although boys maybe born with what appears to be a longer than normal penis, it does not always end up like that in adulthood and most certainly men can have problems with their self esteem. If you look back at the problems shared by some men on this board, impotency is one of them. I feel there are so few studies in adult males as men do not tend to share things like us women do!!
