I have Simple-Virilizing CAH and although of course don’t remember blood draws as a baby - I do remember as a child @ the U of Mich/ C.S.Mott’s the blood draws and it was really warped what they did there because they would have this empty room with a small school desk in it and then the group of kids would come in and watch as each of us sat in that small desk and got out blood taken- I think the object was that kids wouldn’t cry in front of each other. I still to this day can recall sitting in that desk and the group watching w/ the nurses? voice telling one little boy who way the same height as thedesk that he could come right up and watch me - I can see his frightening face right now and I as another child soothed him and said it wasn’t that bad. The blood draws were great compared to the rest of what they did ....hummm anyway take it from someone who has really small veins Yes drinking lots O’ water is the best thing in the world and also making sure they are really warm- I had cancer a year and a half ago and drinking the water plus wearing a sweater over a long sleeve shirt then t- shirt on the way to the hospital and during all the time while waiting for the blood draw does help also. I’m a hard stick also and usually now for bloodwork? they draw from the wrist area .
