re: post surgery pain 18 months and up

Hi,

My daughter had her surgery at around 19 mths.  She was on a morphine drip after the surgery and a catheter attached.  She was really miserable and very unsettled for around 12 hours or so but was fine after that.  I’m not sure if it was the morphine which she didn’t get along with or just generally miserable from the surgery.   She had a 2nd minor surgery done around 24 mths as the first one wasn’t quite there.  This time she didn’t have morphine as pain relief (I can’t remember what she was given but it was a pain killer up her bottom).  She was not miserable at all the 2nd time.  Again I’m not sure if it’s because it was a smaller op than the first or if it’s because she didn’t have the morphine.  Both times she came home  and she didn’t need any pain killers at home.  She didn’t have any problems with pain when she returned home.
