World Veterinary Day. April 30

Dear Anon,

This board is wonderful in that we may express our feelings and thus I hope feel better? I for one don’t see any doctor as a God but I do recongnize the difficulty in what they attempt to do every day. Seven different docotrs thought I had anemia it was cancer or it was anemia and cancer developed later. Who really knows? Such an inexact science  and symptoms are equival to anything. I read an article in the United States that Endocrinologist are the lowest paid of all the specialties and I will respect that you feel they get paid all this money but over here and I’m guessing you don’t live in the U.S. by the wording of your first post yes they make a six figure salary but you figure all the time it takes to get the degree, student loans, starting practice and employess, insurance to cover your practice and most don’t have that anymore. Plus all the time you spend at work and also being on call for your patients 24/7...Is it really that much - they work for it. I’ve had the opportunity to see doctors cry... the ones that present that God like exterior and I’ve made doctors cry. The tread wasn’t about money but to honor the effort that goes into medicine and with respect - There is a Veterinary Day http://www.avma.org/press/release/050421_wvd.asp. I am a pain in the a%% to my Endo sometimes and that goes with the teritory of having a cronic condition : ) She’s asking questions ...she doesn’t value me ....trust me or whatever goes on in that smart head but we are working on that - I’m just curious and interested. I think Endos for the most part are on the introveted side.

I read that many that pick medical school wouldn’t go that way again and that endocrinology is a small field and expected to get smaller. The post was meant to give a nod to those that try everyday with their best judgement and sometimes those judgement calls the lost of life and the doctor has to live with that call everyday ...the lost of a human life by his error. That’s much deeper than not getting paid or fired but on the level of not getting paid or fired? they can get fired- I was at one endo and his waiting room was the size of a closet and based on the way he treated me - I left and it wasn’t any surpise that no patients were in his waiting room after me. The man mocked me about percoucious puberty instead of learning that where I went for treatment as a child? never had percoucious puberty. He also told me that No you didn’t have a clitorectomy It was a recession. Yes - I asked him if he wanted to see but shoved my medical records in his face instead. OHH - how old are you? realizing that he was wronge. Smartman w/ no skills to relate but I’m glad he is a doctor also and he was a big help to me when I had to go to a hospital for an emergency and my endo had no priviledges there. I got into it with him just for fun and he got his feathers all flustered - I think he liked it to because he had a smile on his face as we were yelling back and forth and then he ran away the pateint in the next bed laughed also. The nurse came in and said he has poor bed side manners- I defended him because - he is just a man and thank the LORD also someone that likes endocrinology. Personality wise - just someone so easy to set off and unlike my own endo that is quiet like a country stream but I got him mad ...a little just once - You get mad at those you like and I don’t think he would forgive himself - if I died from something in an endocrine way- they are upset if they miss something in their speciality because it’swhat they do . I got my solu- cortef because they learned from the past. This certain Hospital awhile back before this endo was there didn’t know how to treat CAH and a child passed on.  Nobody wants a death on their hands and they did their best. Anon, attitudes are defense mechanisms. I had an NP and (what an attitude I thought ) that caused me great pain and I told her this many times over but I also know it wasn’t on purpose.

I have plans in action (trying to get speakers) to educate Md’s/ students/ nurses in my area about CAH and it’s something that I’m really excitied about. Doctors do know about CAH but it’s only a paragraph compared to Diabetes.

I didn’t ask for my medical condition but I’m thankful that God provided me with people that try to help with it by using their best judgement based on a lifetime of training.

Peace be with You.
