I wish they would come up with a new way for the IV’s!! I don’t like them and I’m an adult.

All I know is my 9yr old SWCAH has had many IV’s and really never complained. He is so used to blood draws and everytime he had an IV he was so sick he just didn’t complained.  But............. about 3 mths ago they put that numbing cream on him before they put in the IV and they could not get it in his hand!!! After about 5 nurses and him screaming to exhaustion I said that’s it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a horrible experience. We were in the study to try each meds for 6 wks and then an over night stay for testing.  I know everyone says the cream is great to use before they have the blood draws but TRUST ME it is different with an IV. He had never used the cream before and he had never had a problem. It had to be the numbing cream.  Then last month we had a trip to the ER for severe stomach cramps and it took 5 nurses to hold him down. Like I said we never had a problem ever. Just our experience.
