re: Pregnant needs help

Congratulations! Since my last pregnancy was almost four years ago, I’m starting to forget all the details. I have SW-CAH and I have 4 children (2 boys, 2 girls). My husband does not have CAH and is not a carrier so my children are carriers. Hopefully, by the time they have kids, Dr. New or somebody will have come up with a cure.

Are you having any muscle weakness? Nausea with muscle weakness (tired after climbing a set of stairs or can’t open a jar of pickles - almost a tragedy when you have SW-CAH and are pregnanct - couldn’t get enough pickles! lol) is a sure sign of undersuppression. My normal dose of dexamethasone is 0.25mg and during each of the pregnancies I topped out at 1.0mg. After the birth, I gradually (over the course of 10 to 12 days) went back to my normal dose. My Florinef went up too but not as drastic and I can’t remember exactly what happened (I think I went from 0.1 to 0.2mg).

I’ve rambled enough! Need my morning tea!

Good luck and if you have any questions please post again or e-mail me at cahmom [at] adelphia.net
