Hi Jacob,Beth D.
We were in the same boat. We moved when my cah daughter was in 2nd grade. She was at least a foot taller than all the other kids (now that she is in 8th grade they are just starting to catch up). All the kids were afraid of her because of her size. She is very shy, but once they started talking to her they realized she was harmless, just big.
The best way for her to make friends was through girl scouts (with classmates). Then in 3rd grade she was invited to play basketball and fell in love with the sport. All the girls on the team became great friends and have been playing together and socializing together for the past 5 years.
The one thing you have to be careful about is her growth. When they grow alot at an early age, it sometimes prevents them from reaching their full height potential. Speak with your doctor and get a bone age x-ray done to make sure she doesn’t stop growing too early. We put our daughter on Lupron (to slow puberty until she was 11) and growth hormones (to reach her optimum height also until age 11) at around age 8. She is now done with puberty and growing and has reached a healthy and happy 5’8" tall. I am 5’6" and my husband is 6’2", my other 3 daughters (non-cah) are tall also.
Good luck to you.
Beth
