Danny CarltonI think the word "nappies" might be a clue. That’s a British word, right? or is it Australian?
I read about a study awhile back that compared and contrasted the diets from various cultures. England scored pretty low in overall diet in terms of fiber. Africa scored high. Constipation, according to the report, is fairly rare in Africa, especially in the more rural areas. Here in America our diet varies some, but is essentially a Western diet (meat flavored with vegetables) as opposed to an Eastern diet (vegetables flavored with meat). Australia, like America, tends to follow England in terms of general diet, with lots of meat, and vegetables used more as side dishes and flavoring.
We lean towards whole grains whenever possible. Whole wheat bread, brown rice, multi-grain cereals, etc. We also avoid sugary foods if possible, leaving them for occasional treats. Our kids have never had a problem with constipation.
