I stumbled across some information today on the differences in the length of a persons ring finger and index finger. Information that i read said that a male’s ring finger is usually longer than their index finger. And a females ring and index fingers are the same length. And the theory is that this is because of prenatal exposure to adrogens. I started thinking about the issues with CAH and if this is related.B.T.I looked at my hand, I’m a 31 yr old female with SWCAH., and sure enough, my ring finger is longer than my index finger. I googled congenital adrenal hyperplasia and finger length and yes there’s been studies done on this.
I never heard of this and was quite shocked to find this info. and to look at my own hands and see that they fit the description. Has anyone else ever heard of this? When I was younger at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh they always looked at my hands, I always thought it was because of reflexes or something. And not to mention the hand x-rays, which I believe are for bone age, but this too I guess.
