LynnTThank you all so much. She/we truly believe in the power of prayer! Her battle with this aggressive form of cancer began 4 years ago when she was 35. She was given 6 months to live at that time and sent on her way with a suggestion to "get her things in order". In true Tammy style she fought that battle and every other one this monster of a disease has thrown her way.
She is quite worn down now and, although her body has still been able to fight off the cancer with chemo, the problem lies in the blood brain barrier. The meds helping her systemic sites to stay relatively clean are not getting to her brain and the "Omia Port" that was put into her brain in order to bypass the b/b barrier isn’t producing the same results.
That is where this study comes in. It is an oral chemo pill that claims to pass the b/b barrier. It has not yet been approved by the FDA but has been granted the "fast track" status once they are ready to market it for the general population. The first two phases of the study yielded results that were deemed "close to a miracle" in some cases. Overall, a 30%+/- improvement rate was seen.
This is where the prayers come in................Thanks again!(;>)
