I think that "disorders of sexual development" is way better than the term intersex!
Aimee- labels suck, no doubt about it. Unfortuantly, docs have to label us someway in order to relate to what’s going on with us. The alpha 5 reductase deficiency men have an enzyme deficiency to convert estrogen to testosterone. And the AIS guys also just have a mutation of their androgen receptor. Are they any different from the CAHer’s? Regardless, these general labels the docs stick to us, as we all know, don’t define who you really are- and it’s up to us to make sure they know it!
