Dear Laura-

I’m glad your’e daughter is feeling better.  I’m saying prayers for her and Mom!  The first time injecting is the hardest.  I had to do it when my daughter was 3.  And I should have done it before that, but always got by with the triple dose or having the ER nurse do it-under great duress.  Thank goodness they gave the injection to your daughter without a fuss.  Even though I had the injectable with me, they would call the endo first before even thinking of believing me the Mom first!  For my daughter, the combination of fever and vomitting is "lethal" .  She needs the injection right away.  If she vomits due to carsickness, we get away with the triple dose, and give a little drink of water and a saltine cracker.  We haven’t had to give an injection for a whole year (knock on wood), and it is easy to become complacent.  Sometimes I actually "think out loud" in my head, all the steps to giving the injection.  While I’m thinking it I always imagine myself as very calm, then when the time comes, I am calm.  Sounds crazy but it works!  Thanks for sharing that experience with us.  We all learn from each other.  Email me anytime!
