Thank you! That’s what I’m saying. Why not just remove the adrenal gladnds... especially in a child whose levels aren’t being controlled through medication. I have not yet had my 15 year old daughter tested for PCOS or insulin resistance, but I can see both coming in her future. Although she works out every morning, she is overweight and has low energy levels. We have been seriously discussing an adrenalectomy. She’s on too much medication now, but it’s necessary because her adrenals are just running wild and we’re having a hard time controlling her levels (especially androgens). I’ve read that long-term overuse of steroids can cause osteoporosis. Yesterday, I heard that the first sign is a bone fracture. Because she had an unexplained bone fracture in her leg last summer and has had a couple of painful lesions found on her femur and knee, I think she is beginning to get osteoporosis on top of everything else! The Cares Foundation can put you in touch with a wonderful lady in New York who had an adrenalectomy about 10 years ago. I spoke to her last week, and she was very encouraging about the surgery.
