There are still functions in the adrenal gland that do work.  I went into this before my son started on the pump. What I was told that, you can go into a crisis a lot quicker!  With CAH adrenal cells can break off (rests) and grow in other parts of the body, and become their own little factory making 17 OHP, so you still have to suppress them. You can’t really tell till they are out!  You need to read the posts on the Addison’s board - yes they do suffer with weight problems, it is still impossible to follow the circadian rhythm, with the meds you take as basically you are taking the same but less. They have problems with brain fog and missed tablets can be dangerous!  Also I thought what if they do manage to somehow find a cure or a new drug or treatment, you cannot put the adrenals back in once they are out!  PLEASE think very carefully before you even consider this. I do not mean to frighten anyone but it is a huge thing to do and people do die from adrenal crisis with Addison’s. they suffer depression, weight problems, stomach problems, and osteoporosis.
