LindaMy daughter is 8, has CAH and is on a very low dose of Prednisolone. She complains of aches and pains occasionally especially in her joints. She has very low energy when she is on her meds. According to her most recent bone growth scan, she has the growth of an 11 year old. The way that her endo explained it to me was that she is growing at such an accelerated rate that the cartilage and tendons in her joints just cannot keep up with the bone growth, and are stretched, it isn’t how it is supposed to work. As far as the low energy, I honestly believe that it is due to the meds, they also bring the weight gain too. There isn’t much that can be done with the side effects of the meds. So the decision her endo is making now is whether to continue her meds or not because of the severe weight gain or deal with it and then have to deal with all the consequences that come with that like the diabetes and heart disease. On the other hand the chance of infertility when she is older. So it is a catch 22 thing.
Good luck
Linda
