I made the changes only today. Google doesn’t spider the site; they refer to the sitemap file I have registered with them (that saves them the effort of spidering it). So any search results you get today are from stuff spidered months ago. The individual posts have always been indexed, it’s just that they’ll carry more weight in determining the pagerank now that they appear to be static pages rather than script generated pages.

As for the choice between privacy and information, the purpose of the site is information and any effort in that direction has the potential to lesson the privacy of anyone willing to offer information. The site no longer has an email field when people post and I’m pretty sure my name (first and last) appear more often than any other on the board and it’s still not got a whole lot of links to this board when googled. I’ll work up a privacy message that can be linked from the message form to suggest appropriate ways  to communicate while maintaining privacy.
